Farewell
Today we say good bye to a family member, Geraldine Hansen. She was my brother-in-laws sister. She was a gentle soul, always gracious and soft spoken. We will miss you, Geri, but will be reunited someday.

An Eventful Day - February 8, 2011
An email from my sister, Gloria, to her son, Michael in Australia:
We were walking to our car in the Savemart Shopping Center pushing our cart full of groceries. A lady pulled a 'Hollywood' stop and the witnesses said she was looking to her right as she excelerated to turn right. We were in the middle of the street. She hit the right side of the grocery cart with the left fender of her car and straight into Dad.
They called it a low impact collision but even though she was going slow she didn't put on her brakes until she hit Dad. He first went onto the hood of her car and then he was thrown backward and was airborne until he landed on his back on the pavement. Probably he flew about five feet. He said he saw stars when the back of his head hit the pavement. Fortunately there was a physician's assistant in the parking lot who immediately attended to Dad. The ambulance and fire truck were there in minutes.
They did a Katz Scan and it looked good. They said if Dad gets a head ache to bring him to emergency right away. He has some pain pills and muscle relaxer pills.
I went back to the grocery store to pick up our basket of groceries. The frozen food was safe in the freezer and everything else was refrigerated. All of our $95 of groceries were safe.
What a day, Oh my,
Mom

Strange Email - January 30, 2011
Background: As part of my ancestry research, I became a volunteer on findagrave.com and started taking photos of gravestones and posting them on that website.
So, here is an email that I received today about one of the photos I posted:
(I did not edit the email, it is exactly like i received it)
"Name: Sarah Ann Auble (1851 - 1938)
Note from contributor: In a bizar dream I saw a blond woman with blond eyelaches ,very friendly. She told me her name is Sarah and that she died in 1938. With the help of google I found a picture of a graveyard with the name sarah ann auble on in and a year of death is 1938. How amazing. I was just curious if my dream have had a meaning and if she really existid. Is there still a family auble in Alturas? I live in the Netherlands. Friendly regards, Kelly van Ruiten."
I did some research and found one person on ancestry.com that is related to Sarah Ann Auble and emailed him to see if he is interested in talking to this woman in the Netherlands.
I welcome comments about this.

A week and a half on the South Beach Diet and doing good. I lost 4 lbs the first week. Feeling good and making good food choices.
Went shopping in Klamath Falls on Sunday and bought a new 47" HD TV. It's internet ready and we can get Netflix, Pandora Radio and much more right on our TV.
The weather is cold and we got more snow today. I am so thankful for my nice warm home.

January 5, 2011
3rd day of the South Beach Diet. I did good yesterday and plan to do the same today. However, it's food day at work. We celebrate Birthday's monthly with a food day.
I made deviled eggs to share because I can eat them on this food plan but there won't be much else I can eat there, so I'm coming home for lunch. (run on sentence, much?)
Next step in my plan is exercise. When and how much? Hmmmmm

It is my granddaughter's birthday today, she is 20 years old. Where did the time go? It seems like just yesterday that I was changing her diaper.
Today was my first day on the South Beach Diet. My goal is to lose at least 40 pounds. There's a wide variety of things to eat, lot of good recipes on the internet and when I get past the cravings, I am sure I won't go hungry.
I want to get an early start on tax season, so I went through my receipt box and tossed anything that I don't need. I like keeping receipts and statements during the year because sometimes you need the information.
However, this year I am going to scan them and put an electronic file on my computer and throw away the hard copy. Of course I will keep hard copies of anything that is tax deductible.

January 2, 2011 Evening
It's been a full day. Church, lunch at the Mexican Restaurant, shopping for a few more food items for the week.
We spent the rest of the afternoon and evening preparing food for the week and then for dinner. I'm going to relax for the rest of the evening and watch a movie.
I chose a movie from Netflix called Fahrenheit 451 (made in 1966). It's set in the future, books are banned, all printed materials are destroyed and banned, and firemen start fires and there is a group of people that memorize books and most importantly, memorize the Bible. I chose this movie because next week Tom Meyer from Wordsower Ministries will be at our church to recite the books of James, Revelation and Genesis from memory. That should be pretty amazing.

HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Here we are at the start of a new year. The biggest thing I have on my mind for this year is that I only have 15 months before I can consider retiring (at the magic age of 65).
We do need to get things done around the house while I am working and bringing in a good income.
We need a new kitchen floor and either a new counter or some kind of repair done on the counter behind the sink.
I hope this year brings good health and prosperity to everyone.
